AD x SOUL CAP – The Signature Swim Cap of an Olympic Athlete

Earlier this year, we hosted a special event in our SOUL CAP studios.

It was a celebration of our long-standing partnership with Olympic swimmer Alice Dearing, recognising her achievements in swimming – both in and out of the pool.

But we had our own SOUL CAP milestone to recognise that day as well – as we marked our 5th year in business proudly serving the swim community.

So, to commemorate our ongoing partnership, we took the opportunity to unveil our latest new product to our friends and supporters: a limited-edition swim cap designed by Alice herself.

It’s been a long journey getting here.

Here’s the story so far:

Making waves, making history

Back in 2016, Alice burst onto the world marathon swimming stage with a win at the FINA Championships in the Netherlands, taking the first ever British gold medal at a World Junior Open Water Championship.

She was only nineteen. And her hot streak was just beginning.

Since then, she went on to compete at the World Championships in Budapest in 2017, the European Championships in 2018, and the World Championships in Gwangju in 2019.

In 2021, she qualified for the Tokyo Olympics. And later that year, she made history as the first Black female swimmer to represent Great Britain at the Olympic Games.

It’s an impressive journey. But these massive achievements are only one side of Alice – there’s so much more going on outside the water.

A collaboration on a mission

In 2020, we were lucky enough to meet Alice Dearing. It didn’t take long to realise that Alice and SOUL CAP had a goal in common – to make swimming more accessible and inclusive for everyone who loves the water.

So we started a new partnership. And we didn’t waste any time.

Together with Alice, we launched the #BlackGirlsDontSwim campaign, producing a short documentary that spoke directly to the swimmers and athletes who are affected by the stereotypes around Black people and swimming.

And the response from the community was huge.

We worked with Alice to publish a series of personal editorial articles, where she shared her experiences growing up as a swimmer – from her training in her school days to her struggles in leading a balanced life as a high-level competitive athlete.

And today?

We’re celebrating Alice and our long-standing partnership with the launch of her own signature SOUL CAP.

The Olympic standard for diversity in the water

The new AD x SOUL CAP is a special edition swimming cap made for all hair types – designed and signed by Olympic swimmer, Alice Dearing.

It’s a unique new design with a logo created as a collaboration between SOUL CAP and Alice, designed to recognise and celebrate the achievements of those who are under-represented in sports.

Each AD x SOUL CAP comes with a brand-new logo and colour gradient – as well as a custom hand-signed photograph of Alice included.

You’ll get the same full range of inclusive sizes you’ve come to expect from SOUL CAP – with the same skin-friendly silicone, the same tough durability, and the same watertight seal to keep your hair healthy and happy.

But they won’t be around for long. The AD x SOUL CAP was made as a limited-run production, with just 50 caps made in each size.

So if you’re looking to show your support for under-represented communities – and own a rare collector’s item designed and signed by an Olympic pioneer.

This special edition cap has now sold out, thank you so much for your love and support with this collaboration, however be sure to check out the FINA approved swim cap range.
